If you are applying it to a new boat you will love it. It will keep the toons looking like the day you bought it. If you are putting it on a used boat you will need to clean or polish the toons first. Cleaning the toons or polishing them is a personal decision but one or both must be done if the boat has been used. You will want to put on at least two coats no matter what you put it on. You then will only have to touch up any areas that rub throughout the season. I used it on my new boat and loved it. The Sharkhide web site has some excellent advice on it. The clear protectant is only a protective coating and not a polish so it is normal for it to be hard to see. If you apply it correctly you will love it. It is a superb product.
